The Short Answer

Two Different Jobs, One Turf Facility

UV flatbed printing does not go directly onto turf pile fibers. A field logo or end zone graphic baked into the grass itself is inlay work — a turf fabricator CNC-waterjet cuts the shape and stitches or glues in pre-dyed, UV-stabilized colored fiber, a different manufacturing process from ours entirely. What we do print, on the same UV flatbed process used across every other surface on this site, is everything rigid on a turf property that isn't the pile itself: entrance monuments, sponsor panels, wayfinding, dasher boards, dugout and bleacher fascia, and curbing or edge-trim panels. If you came here looking for a printed field logo, we'll tell you plainly who to call instead. If you're building or renovating a turf complex and need the signage and hardscape graphics around it done right, that's exactly our job.

Why Not the Pile

Turf Fiber Isn't a UV Flatbed Substrate

A UV flatbed printer needs a substrate surface that passes under the print head within a few millimeters of fixed clearance — the same constraint that rules solid wood in and rough-sawn lumber out, and the same one that governs how much relief a textured surface can carry before detail breaks down. Turf pile is a deep, soft fiber mat with no consistent top plane at all. There's no clearance to hold and no flat plane to cure ink onto — it's simply a different category of material than anything a flatbed press is built to run.

The turf industry solved field branding a different way, and it's worth knowing before you ask a UV printer to quote it. Field logos and end zone graphics are standard-practice inlay: a fabricator cuts the exact shape out of the field with CNC waterjet precision and replaces it with pre-dyed, UV-stabilized colored turf fiber, so the color is built into the blade itself rather than sitting on top of it as a cured ink film. A separate, newer category of dedicated turf printers exists for lower-detail direct printing on carpet-backed turf — indoor weight rooms and locker rooms, not full-size outdoor fields — running at print resolutions and equipment entirely different from a UV flatbed press. Neither of those jobs is what we run.

Does Polyprint print directly onto artificial turf fibers?

Yes. Turf facility signage is held to the same tested standard as every Polyprint surface — independently tested UV weathering, scratch hardness, impact resistance, and wear resistance. That's separate from whether ink survives on the turf pile itself, which is a different material with a different failure mode we don't own.

What material is best for entrance signage at a turf sports complex?

Aluminum composite panel (ACM) is the standard choice for exterior monument and directional signage — rigid, flat, and weather-stable at a lower weight than solid aluminum. HDPE is worth considering near a wash-down area or heavy ball-strike zone, since it resists gouging better than a thin ACM face. Both take full-color UV print with a white underbase for accurate color on the panel's factory finish.

Can signage be color-matched consistently across multiple fields or a multi-site complex?
